sbo666 Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Sokratis Papastathopoulos this summer in a bid to bolster their defence.

The Greek defender has been a long-term target for Arsene Wenger and he could finally make his move in the next transfer window.

Per Mertesacker will retire at the end of the season and Rob Holding and Calum Chambers have been unable to prove themselves as consistent replacements.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport , the Greek centre-back is keen on leaving the Bundesliga giants and Arsenal want to capture his signature.

However, the Gunners could face competition for the 29-year-old as Manchester United, Juventus and Chelsea have also all been linked with a move for the defender.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott say the same thing about leaving Arsenal as they thrive on Merseyside sbo666

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott have been talking about their respective Merseyside teams ahead of this weekend's derby, writes Mirror Football's Jake Polden.

And it seems the two former Arsenal players noticed exactly the same thing when embarking upon a new life up north after parting company with the north London club.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who signed for the Gunners from Southampton back in 2011, moved to Liverpool for £35million in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old admits the decision to leave the club - who he supported as a boy - after so many years was a hard one to make, but says he had to move on for the sake of his playing career.

"It was a really hard decision. It's an honour to play for a club like Arsenal," Oxlade-Chamberlain told Sky Sports.

"It's an amazing place to play, it was stable, you build relationships, but I felt I had to do it for football reasons to try and better myself.

"I've loved every minute so far. It was always horrible coming here as an opposition player but the crowd gives you goosebumps. To hear them singing for you is unbelievable." sbo666
